I've been a Community Centre Co-ordinator for the past 3.5 years. I am passionate about my role in the Centre as it offers me a great opportunity to be part of a Program instituting positive change within our local Community. It is such a joy to see the personal growth in our participants through their involvement in the diverse range of programs/activities offered at our Centre. I also love the challenges and diversity within my role. It is such a privilege to work closely with the people within our Community and other local Agencies and be part of building and shaping our Centre to meet the needs of people within our area.
Nicole, Personal CarerI’m 18 and this is my first job. I’m a Personal Carer and I’m loving it. I’ve been here just a couple of months since completing my Certificate 3 in Aged Care at TAFE. I enjoy the daily routine of looking after our elderly people. It’s a busy job so the time goes quickly but we always have time to have a joke and a laugh. The people who live here depend on us and we love them. This job is so much better than I expected it to be. I didn’t realise it would be so much fun. I want to stay and study to become an enrolled nurse.
Daniel, Youth WorkerI’ve been with UCWPA for two and a half years as a Youth Housing Options Worker. I run an early intervention program to find housing options for young people who present themselves at Port Youth. I completed my Certificate 4 in Youth Work & Juvenile Justice and was placed at UCWPA as part of my course. At the end of my placement I was offered a job. I love the interaction I have with young people and the rewarding feeling I have when I‘m able to obtain accommodation for someone who would otherwise be sleeping out in the open under a bridge. My job is challenging but I work in a very supportive environment among other people who really care. Between us we always find solutions.
Jane, Clinical Nurse Consultant and Acting Director of NursingI started with UCWPA as a casual RN 4.5 years ago. It wasn’t long before I was offered a permanent position with all the benefits of sick leave, annual leave, salary sacrifice and long service leave. Job security and flexibility are really important to me because I am a single parent with 2 young children. I wanted to further my career in aged care and UCWPA have recognised and fostered my potential and encouraged me. They have provided me with management training and the opportunities to practice my skills on the job. Today I find myself entrusted with the position of Director of Nursing. I love working here. It’s a happy and homely environment for both our staff and our residents, with an excellent standard of care. |
